Windermere Creek

Windermere Creek is Lake Windermere's main tributary. Water in this creek is fed by both snowmelt and groundwater. The creek's headwaters are located near Pedley Pass, at the top of the Westrock Mine Haul Road. The creek flows past a gypsum mine, housing developments, historical logging, agriculture, and -- finally -- through the community of Windermere before it empties into the lake.   How do you think these characteristics of Windermere Creek affect its flow?

Abel

Abel Creek is the outflow from the District of Invermere's water supply, which is stored in a small reservoir located at the Paddy Ryan lakes. This reservoir is situated just west of town, along Johnston Road. Because snowmelt and groundwater first flow into the lakes before getting released into the creek, the amount of drawdown (human/household consumption) from the lakes can impact the flow in the creek. How do you think these characteristics of Abel Creek affect its flow?

Lake Windermere Total depth is a measure of how deep the lake water is. The total depth is dependent on the amount of water flowing in from feeder creeks as well as temperature. There is no objective for lake depth in Lake Windermere, but levels below 2m generally cause concern for motorized boaters and increase water’s susceptibility to warming.
